Dojo Kun
"Dojo Kun" means more or less "training hall rules." A dojo kun can be thought of as something like a motto, an oath, or statement of principle or intent.
We recite two dojo kuns from different origins at the end of every class.
1. "The Ultimate Aim"
This oath is recited first, in unison with the instructor.
The ultimate aim in the art of karate lies not in victory nor defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants.
2. "Dojo Kun"
This oath is recited second, repeating each line after the instructor.
Dojo kun
Seek perfection of character
Endeavour
Be faithful
Refrain from violent behavior
